At the end of 2019, just when I thought I had finished my cancer treatment, my oncologist surprised me. “I recommend a year of Nerlynx,” he said, another drug for HER2+. I made the mistake of Googling it. In March 2020, I began my course of six pills a night. It was a year of many things — a global pandemic, lockdowns, protests, elections, and these faces which started to take up more space on the page and in our house, especially since seeing people in person became a rarity. How do we create community? One way is to draw it.
